BT Motorsport was formed in early 2010 by Director, Stephen Brown-Thomas, who identified a lack of high quality, tried, tested and proven performance components available in New Zealand for Subaru’s.
Stephen formed a relationship with world renowned Subaru specialists Roger Clark Motorsport in the development of his own Subaru race car, and now BT Motorsport is able to bring you these fantastic and proven quality components to New Zealand.
BT Motorsport have their own dedicated race car “SPEC C”, which is a platform for further development in association with RCM and our other technical partners. BT Motorsport competes in New Zealand’s premier saloon car series GT Racing New Zealand, Time Attack/Superlap, as well as hill climbs and street sprints, which requires a well rounded car to cover all disciplines.
THE BT MOTORSPORT TEAM
Stephen Brown-Thomas – Director/Driver
Stephen became involved in motorsport at a club level in 2006 in his standard 2004 WRX WR Ltd and slowly progressed as a driver, and the car also evolved to the dedicated race car that is Spec C. Stephen works in commerical property as an asset manager and project manager, as well as running BT Motorsport on a day to day basis.
Tim Robinson – Chief Mechanic
Tim works in a Honda dealership on a daily basis, however has been working on race cars in his spare time since beginning his career as a mechanic. Tim has also previously worked in a Holden dealership, and currently also crews for D1NZ frontrunner Cole Armstrong.
Dave Heerdegen – Tuner
Dave is the propreitor of Dtech Motorsport the company tasked with building Spec C V2.0 along with ongoing upgrades, testing, and tuning. All engine work and dyno tuning is also handled in house in the new Dtech premises, with Dave also providing trackside support.
Mark Brown-Thomas – Team Manager & Logistics Manager
Mark manages the team throughout race weekends, and also organises logistics leading up to, and during events. With a long military career behind him the team is organised with precision and everything at their fingertips during a race weekend.
